Director of System R and D Engineering

Company: Coriolis Wind
Scope: Full-time
Reports to: VP R&D
Location: Ramat Hasharon, Israel

Coriolis Wind is a privately held, venture capital funded wind energy start-up incorporated in the US with R&D offices in Israel. The company seeks a highly motivated individual with a demonstrated track record to join the company's development team as a director of System
R&D Engineering.

POSITION SUMMARY

The candidate will direct a team responsible for the system development of a novel wind turbine system. The candidate must demonstrate experience in systems design, analysis, development and testing with multidisciplinary skills in Mechanics, Electricity and Control (hardware and software) engineering.

Among others, the job requires the following:

  • Start to finish responsibility for a complete system, including: requirements assessment, concept formulation, written specifications, design, component selection, system and algorithm development, integration, testing and formal qualification
  • Lead, manage and support a team of system engineers
  • Guide and support work or service provided by external consultants and subcontractors
  • Overall responsibility for specific projects: planning, development of sub systems, follow up, report and control, delivery of agreed objectives

QUALIFICATIONS

  • M.Sc. or higher degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Aerodynamics engineering
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in developing integrated mechanical (static and dynamic) and electrical systems
  • Experience in writing specifications of multidisciplinary systems
  • Experience in system testing and integration including test methods and results diagnosis
  • Self-motivated with outstanding interpersonal skills with both internal and external teams
  • Management and negotiation skills with sub contractors, suppliers and manufacturers
  • Hands-on attitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in developing or analysis of aerodynamic components and systems (turbines, compressors, blades) -> preferred
  • Experience in working within an entrepreneurial, market- and innovation-driven environment. Prior experience in start-ups –> preferred
