Senior electrical and control R and D engineer

Coriolis Wind, a privately held, venture capital funded wind energy start-up incorporated in the US with R&D offices in Israel. The company seeks a highly motivated individual with a demonstrated track record to join the company's development team

POSITION SUMMARY

The candidate will direct a team responsible for the electrical and control development of a wind turbine system.

The candidate must demonstrate creative skills in a dynamic start-up environment together with hands-on engineering attitude and is expected to participate in the development of complex multi-disciplinary products involving mechanical, aerodynamic, electrical and control design.

Among others, the job requires the following:
• Start to finish responsibility for electrical and control systems, including: requirements assessment, concept formulation, written specifications, design, component selection, system development and testing
• Lead, manage and support a team of engineers, to include monitoring performance, coaching and the identification of development needs as well as support in studying towards professional qualifications
• Guide and support work or service provided by external consultants and subcontractors
• Overall responsibility for specific projects: plan, development of sub systems , follow up, report and control, delivery
of agreed objectives

QUALIFICATIONS

• M.Sc. or higher degree in electrical engineering
• 10+ years of relevant work experience
• Experience in design of electrical power systems such as: high power generators and power electronics (e.g. inverters, converters)
• Experience in design of control circuits, hardware and software and instrumentation system design
• Experience in HV electrical distribution system design - preferred
• Experience in advanced laboratory and test methods, test problems and results diagnosis - preferred
• Self-motivated with outstanding interpersonal skills with both internal and external teams
• Management and negotiation skills with sub contractors, suppliers and manufacturers
• Hands-on attitude
• Effective verbal and written communication
• Experience in working within an entrepreneurial, market- and innovation-driven environment. Prior experience in start-ups – preferred
